Johnny Sackitey Ossom is a budding biochemist with expertise in various techniques in extraction and analysis of phytochemicals from plant materials, evaluation of anti-oxidancy and anticancer properties on various cells. He has also gained expertise in the extraction, quantitative and qualitative analysis of oil from oil seeds. Expertise in small and medium scale artisanal production of palm oil has also been gained from various studies carried out to evaluate factors influencing the Quality and Quantity of oil produced by artisanal and medium scale oil palm processing facilities in Ghana. He has also participated in the training of oil palm producers at various fora on interventions that could improve quantity and quality of Crude palm oil produce.
Johnny Sackitey Ossom joined the CSIR-Oil Palm Research Institute in 2009 with a Bsc. Laboratory Technologist certificate from the University of Cape Coast, 2007 and later obtained an Mphil Biochemistry from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, 2016. He is currently a Senior Technologist awaiting upgrading to Principal Technologist. He is presently serving as the Laboratory manager of the institute laboratories.
He is currently the Chairman of the OPRI Senoir Staff Club, President of the OPRI Senior Staff Association (SSA), Chair of the CSIR South Sector SSA and Second Vice-Chair of the CSIR National SSA.
